2018 FSMB Board Attorneys Workshop
November 8-9, 2018
Designed specifically for attorneys and legal staff of state medical and osteopathic boards, including individuals involved with the investigation and prosecution of physician licensure and disciplinary cases, the FSMB’s Board Attorneys Workshop provides participants with the opportunity to share and exchange valuable information on case experiences, best practices and current issues pertinent to board attorneys.
Upon completion of this educational activity, attendees will be able to:
- Identify and discuss dynamics and legal issues that may influence how medical and osteopathic boards discipline physicians in the future.
- Describe strategies used by medical and osteopathic board attorneys to protect the public.
- Investigate options for improving state medical and osteopathic boards’ performance and effectiveness in protecting the public.

Attendee room rates:
$239/double-single rate.
Group rate will be available 3 days prior and 3 days after based on availability.

The special room rate will be available until Wednesday, October 17, 2018, or until the group block is sold out, whichever comes first.
NOTE: All reservations must be guaranteed by valid major credit card. First night’s deposit will be charged. Cancellations are required 72 hours in advance of arrival. Deposit will be refunded if cancellation is made 72 hours in advance of arrival.

Check-Out Time: 12:00 PM
Participants are responsible for their hotel reservations, travel arrangements and other expenses.
Ground Transportation
Austin Bergstrom International Airport is approximately eleven (11) miles from the Omni Austin Hotel Downtown. Taxi and shuttle service are available:
- If you need a taxi, the minimum fare for taxi customers is $12.30 which includes a $1.00 airport surcharge. The approximate cost, one-way, from the airport to the hotel is $25.00.
- Several Austin area shuttle companies are available at the airport.
Continuing Legal Education Credits
FSMB will be working with the State Bar of Texas to determine the exact number of Continuing Legal Education credits to be offered.
Program Materials
In an effort to reduce the amount of paper we use at our programs, all materials will be included on a flash drive at the time of the workshop. Attendees are encouraged to bring a fully-charged laptop computer with them.
Attire
Business-casual attire is appropriate for all meeting functions. Average temperatures for Austin in mid-November are highs in the 60’s – 70’s and lows in the 50’s. We recommend dressing in layers as the temperature in meeting rooms and personal comfort vary widely and are difficult to regulate at times.
