Data Collection & Maintenance
The reliability of the Federation Physician Data Center begins with effective data collection. The FSMB receives reports of actions by State Medical Boards daily. More than 6,000 such reports were received in 2004, reflecting a significant growth in sanction activity.
The Federation maintains comprehensive quality control procedures to enhance the accuracy and integrity of the Federation Physician Data Center. Actions reported to the Federation are verified in writing and accompanied by supporting documentation, such as copies of board orders, findings of fact, conclusions of law, final decrees and stipulations. Each action is reviewed before it is added to the bank. Permanent, hard-copy files of supporting documentation are maintained.
