2009 FSMB Board Attorney Workshop
November 12-13, 2009

The FSMB's Board Attorney Workshop is designed specifically for members, legal staff and staff of state medical boards, as well as individuals involved in the investigation and prosecution of physician licensure and disciplinary cases. Upon completion of this educational activity, attendees will be able to:

Identify and discuss dynamics and legal issues that may influence how medical boards discipline physicians in the future.
Describe strategies used by medical board attorneys to protect the public.
Investigate options for improving state medical boards' performance and effectiveness in protecting the public.

Transportation

Plan on approximately 10-15 minutes travel time from the airport to the hotel. If you are flying into Las Vegas McCarran International Airport (www.mccarran.com), you can choose from:

1. Airport Shuttle are located on the west side of baggage claim at McCarran International Airport, outside door exits 7-13. To strip hotels, shuttle prices range from $6-$7 per person one-way, $12-$13 round trip. Shuttle service operates seven days a week. For information on shuttle services in Las Vegas, please visit http://www.mccarran.com/03_Shuttles_01.asp.

2. Taxi pick-up is available on the east side of baggage claim, outside door exits 1-4. The cost of a one-way taxi service to your hotel is approximately $15. Please note, most taxis will not accept credit card payments.

Registration & Cancellations

For medical board legal counsel and staff, there is no registration fee. The CLE processing fee for both board and non-board attendees is $15.00. Registration may be paid by credit card or check. Accepted credit cards include: Visa and MasterCard. If paying by check, please make your check payable to FSMB and write "2009 Board Attorney Workshop" on your check. If paying for multiple registrations via check, list the full name of each attendee.

Registration cancellations must be received by FSMB no later than November 5, 2009. No refunds will be provided after this date, and attendees will be responsible for canceling all flight and hotel arrangements.

Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Credits

The 2009 FSMB Board Attorney Workshop has been accredited by the Nevada Board of Continuing Legal Education for a maximum of 10.0 credits (including 1.0 ethics credits).

All registered attorneys must sign the appropriate onsite attendance list(s) for accurate CLE reporting and record-keeping purposes. All attendance lists for credit will be available at the Registration table throughout the workshop. Please be sure to submit the CLE Application Processing Fee of $15.00 by November 30, 2009.

Attire

Business-casual attire is appropriate for all meeting functions. November temperatures in Las Vegas, Nevada range from 43-67 degrees.

Program Materials

FSMB is going green! Since we are trying to reduce the amount of paper we use at our programs, we will not be printing binders for everyone. All materials will be handed out on a flash drive at the time of the workshop, so attendees are encouraged to bring a laptop computer with them.
