SPEX Application Process
Fees
New SPEX Fees Adopted
The PLAS Governing Committee at its April 23, 2008 meeting adopted the following fee for the Special Purpose Examination (SPEX) of $860,
effective June 1, 2008. Applications received on or after this date must include the new fee.
Application and Processing Time
The SPEX application and registration materials are available from this website through a four part application process. The completed application must be submitted, along with the appropriate fees and supporting documentation, to the Federation of State Medical Boards. Upon receipt of an application, the FSMB will determine the applicant's eligibility, process the application, and register the applicant for the exam.
Applicants should allow two to four weeks for the processing of an application. A Scheduling Permit will be sent to the applicant upon completion of the registration process.
