Federation of State Medical Boards to Explore Use of Interstate Compact for Physician Licensure
DALLAS – The House of Delegates of the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) has approved a resolution calling for the FSMB to formally explore the creation of a new system that would utilize an “interstate compact” to increase efficiency in the licensing of physicians who practice in multiple states. Innovative New Online Tool to Improve Access to Physician Data
Washington, D.C., April 10, 2013 – Several leading national physician education and assessment organizations announced today their partnership to launch the Data Commons, LLC, an information-sharing company and its new system that will allow them to make selected information from their individual databases available via a data hub. The new system, which is expected to be operational during the third quarter of 2013, will save significant time and expense for researchers, policy makers, analysts and others who seek data about the nation’s physicians - while facilitating new ways of combining and analyzing data-sets. New Directors Elected To FSMB Foundation Board
The Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) Board of Directors elected two Directors to the FSMB Foundation Board during the FSMB board's July meeting. The newest Director is Timothy J. Turner, a public member of the Texas Medical Board. He was appointed by Gov. Rick Perry in 2003 and again in 2009 for an additional six-year term. The FSMB Board re-elected Hedy L. Chang, who was originally elected to the Foundation Board of Directors in February 2010 to complete the term vacated by Regina Benjamin, M.D., M.B.A, when she became U.S. Surgeon General. Read more.
