January 27, 2012 FSMB 100-year Anniversary Plans Announced The Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) will observe its 100-year anniversary during 2012 with special events, publications and other commemorative activities – including a gala celebration during its Annual Meeting in Fort Worth, Texas, in April. August 18 FSMB Foundation Elects Interim Officers, New Directors Interim officers were recently elected to the FSMB Foundation Board of Directors, and new directors were elected to fill several open positions on the Foundation's Board. Three remaining Board positions will be elected in October. Read more. April 30 Federation of State Medical Boards Elects New Officers Delegates at the Federation of State Medical Boards' 99th Annual Meeting, held April 28-30 in Seattle, Wash., elected new board members, officers and committee members. February 24 Charlene Awadjie-Ihedioha to Manage FSMB Foundation Programs The Federation of State Medical Boards Foundation today announced that Charlene Awadjie-Ihedioha will serve as program manager of the FSMB Foundation, beginning this month. August 22 FSMB Immediate Past Chair Freda Bush, MD, Addresses Opportunities for CME to Support Physicians' Maintenance of Licensure The Rhode Island Medical Society and the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME®) are holding the "2011 ACCME Regional Forum: CME As a Bridge to Quality - in Action" on August 22-23, at the Rhode Island Medical Society in Providence. During the program, continuing medical education (CME) accreditors will share best practices for accrediting community-based CME programs that contribute to health care quality initiatives. August 05 Federation of State Medical Boards Recognizes Electronic Health Records Can Assist Physicians in Assessing Ongoing Clinical Competence for Licensure The Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) announced today that it recognizes widespread adoption of electronic health records could be used by doctors to both improve patient outcomes and assess ongoing clinical competence for purposes of medical licensure. The FSMB made the announcement at the "Advancing Electronic Health Records Adoption and Meaningful Use" forum hosted by the Health Industry Forum of Brandeis University and Health Affairs. Read more. July 30 New Directors Elected To FSMB Foundation Board The Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) Board of Directors elected two Directors to the FSMB Foundation Board during the FSMB board's July meeting. The newest Director is Timothy J. Turner, a public member of the Texas Medical Board. He was appointed by Gov. Rick Perry in 2003 and again in 2009 for an additional six-year term. The FSMB Board re-elected Hedy L. Chang, who was originally elected to the Foundation Board of Directors in February 2010 to complete the term vacated by Regina Benjamin, M.D., M.B.A, when she became U.S. Surgeon General. Read more. New Directors Elected To FSMB Foundation Board The Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) Board of Directors elected two Directors to the FSMB Foundation Board during the FSMB board's July meeting.
