The following is a list of sites that you might find resourceful when learning about the USMLE.
- United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE™) -
The USMLE is sponsored by the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) of the United States, Inc., and the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME). Its purpose is to assess a physician's ability to apply knowledge, concepts, and principles to the practice of safe and effective patient care.
- National Board of Medical Examiners -
The NBME is an independent, not-for-profit organization that provides high-quality examinations for the health professions. Since its inception, it has become a model and a resource of international stature in testing methodologies and evaluation in medicine.
- Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG®) -
The ECFMG assesses the readiness of international medical graduates to enter residency or fellowship programs in the United States. It also offers programs and services to physicians educated abroad and other members of the international medical community.
- Federation Credentials Verification Services (FCVS) -
FCVS is a service offered by the FSMB that provides a centralized, uniform process for state medical boards as well as private and governmental entities to obtain a verified, primary source record of a physician's core medical credentials.
- State Medical Board Directory -
The State Board directory provided by the FSMB is a very resourceful guide to finding the contact information of member boards throughout the United States and its territories.
