What attracted you to work at your company? How did you know it would be a good fit?
I learned about the Federation from a few former colleagues who began working here. After doing some research, the mission and goals really spoke to me. We are helping to protect the public by supporting the various state medical boards; this is a very important and rewarding mission. I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of this family!
What do you value most about your company’s or team’s culture? What sets it apart from other places you’ve worked?
The culture at the Federation is definitely one of a kind. This organization cares about its employees and it shows! They are always thinking of ways to get everyone involved and feel a part of something bigger than just our team or department. One thing that sets us apart from many companies I have worked with is the Halloween costume and office decorating contest! What an amazing way to support the staff and let our creative juices flow! The Federation has been extremely supportive, especially during the pandemic, and we would have Zoom town hall meetings every quarter to catch up and keep everyone informed.
What are you responsible for in your current role?
In Accounting I am often involved with multiple projects and tasks. I assist with the annual financial audits and budgeting for our organization. I also work with the finance staff at the National Board of Medical Examiners on the budgeting and forecasting regarding the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE). I aided with the roll out of both our invoicing and expense reporting tools company wide. These aim to help make payments easier for our vendors and employees along with reducing the amount of paper that we have to handle in accounting which is always a good thing!
What are you working on right now that excites or inspires you?
Right now, we are working on our organizational budget. It is exciting to see the new initiatives, projects, meetings, and workgroups that our administration and staff have planned for the coming years. Being involved in this task is pivotal as it plays a large role in how we will be able to support the state medical boards and protect the public.
What’s one thing you would want a candidate to know about what it’s like to work at your company?
We have a hybrid work schedule that is flexible, coming into the office twice a week and working remotely the rest of the time. The world has changed over the past few years and the Federation is keeping itself competitive in the market by offering a flexible work schedule.
How does working at this company allow you to have a work-life balance?
The Federation has a generous paid time off policy, and they definitely support us taking vacations and enjoying our time away from work. With the flexible hybrid work schedule, it can be easier to keep up with things at home as well.
