Joe Knickrehm

Mr. Knickrehm serves as FSMB’s Chief Public Affairs Officer. In his role, Mr. Knickrehm is responsible for directing the Washington, DC office and leading an integrated communications and advocacy portfolio that advances FSMB’s mission. He supports individual state boards in their day-to-day interactions with members of the media and works to promote the value of state-based medical regulation to members of the public, the press, and policymakers.

Before joining FSMB, Mr. Knickrehm served in various communications roles on Congressional campaigns and in the U.S. Congress. He most recently served as Press Secretary to former Congressman Steve Israel (NY-03), the fourth highest ranking Democrat in the U.S. House of Representatives. Mr. Knickrehm earned his bachelor’s degree in public relations and marketing from the University of Northern Iowa.
