Elected Office
FSMB's Nominating Committee invites member medical boards to submit names of Board Member Fellows for consideration as candidates for elected office. Nominees may include physicians as well as non-physicians who are Board Member Fellows of FSMB. Elections will be held April 17, 2027, at the House of Delegates meeting.
Open Positions
- Chair-elect (3-year term: chair-elect, then chair, then immediate-past chair)
- Treasurer (3-year term)
- (3) Directors-at-Large (3-year terms)
- (3) Nominating Committee Members (2-year terms)

Staff Fellows
FSMB is accepting nominations for a Staff Fellow to serve on the FSMB Board of Directors. Eligible nominees are individuals hired or appointed to oversee the day-to-day administrative duties and functions of a medical board. Nominations may be submitted by FSMB Member Medical Boards, the Board of Directors, and Administrators in Medicine (AIM) members.
The FSMB Board will appoint the selected nominee at its February 2027 meeting. The Staff Fellow will serve a two-year term, with eligibility for one reappointment. The newly appointed Staff Fellow will take part in the Investiture of the Board at FSMB AM27 on Saturday, April 17, 2027, and join the Board at its first meeting of the year, held virtually, following the Annual Meeting.

Committee Appointments
Immediately following FSMB AM27, the newly elected FSMB Chair will finalize appointments to standing committees, including Audit, Bylaws, Education, Ethics and Professionalism, Finance, and Journal Oversight, as well as potential special committees or workgroups. Committee service will begin in May 2027.

Service Awards
FSMB is proud to recognize individuals and organizations that demonstrate outstanding service and leadership in medical licensure and discipline. The Award of Merit, Leadership Award, Distinguished Service Award, and Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented during FSMB AM27 in April.
Member Medical Boards and other organizations and individuals within the medical regulatory community are invited to submit nominations. Prior to submitting, download the Awards Nomination Guidelines for full award descriptions, qualifications, and a list of past recipients to confirm your nominee has not previously received the same award.

Bylaws Amendments
The Bylaws Committee will convene to review proposed amendments to FSMB's Bylaws. Amendments may be adopted at by the House of Delegates, provided they receive a two-thirds vote of present members. Only the Board of Directors, member medical boards, or the Bylaws Committee and its members may put forward proposals.

Resolutions
Resolutions give the medical regulatory community a formal way to raise emerging issues and shape FSMB policy. Once submitted, they move before the House of Delegates, FSMB's official policy-making body, for consideration.
Past resolutions have shaped new policies and initiatives that support public protection across the country. We encourage you to talk with your colleagues about what issues matter most to your board and to consider putting those priorities forward.
