FSMB Applauds House Committee on Education & Workforce Advancement of the SHARE Act (H.R. 2332)

WASHINGTON, D.C (June 26, 2026) – Humayun J. Chaudhry, DO, MACP, President and CEO of the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB), issued the following statement in support of the States Handling Access to Reciprocity for Employment (SHARE) Act (H.R. 2332), sponsored by Representatives Tracey Mann (R-KS) and Joe Neguse (D-CO):

“We applaud the House Committee on Education and Workforce for their work to advance the SHARE Act (H.R. 2332) by a unanimous, bipartisan committee vote. This legislation is a critical step towards addressing our nation’s healthcare workforce shortages, especially in rural areas. By clarifying the ability of state licensing authorities to access Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) criminal background history records to conduct background checks for professional or occupational licenses, this technical correction will reduce administrative burdens and allow healthcare professionals to practice across state lines more efficiently.

We strongly urge the House of Representatives, the Senate, and President Trump to approve and enact this legislation as soon as possible.”
