GME Records for Closed Programs

GME Records for Closed Programs

When a graduate medical education program closes, physicians can lose access to records they may need for licensure, credentialing, and employment. FSMB preserves records from participating closed programs, helping ensure that proof of a physician’s training remains available throughout their career.

GME Closed Programs Information

FSMB permanently stores residency records from many closed ACGME-accredited programs, along with select AOA-approved and other training programs. This centralized repository gives physicians, medical boards, employers, and credentialing organizations continued access to verified post-graduate medical education records.

Participating programs confirm that the records they transfer are accurate and unchanged from the originals. Verification provided by FSMB meets the primary-source requirements of state medical boards, JCAHO, NCQA, and URAC.

In addition, ACGME has shared FSMB’s records-retention information on its website, and you can read the full message here.

Programs interested in storing records with FSMB may call (817) 868-5162 or email us at closedprograms@fsmb.org to learn more.
